The ASK Management Committee comprises of the Director and senior management staff of the organisation. The Management Committee responsible for decision making on key issues concerning day to day organisation functioning. ASK practices a very open style of management that is characterized by:
- Free access to senior team members
- 360 degree appraisal system and special surveys to assess the Director from the point of view of employees
- Transparency of information including financial matters, contracts with clients, administrative decision making process
- Frequent collective reflection on the functioning of the organization and its Divisions
ASK is a registered society and has a Governing Board with seven members. These members are from different fields within the development sector, ranging from leaders of grassroots NGOs to researchers and academicians. The governing board also has a staff representative so as to provide a representation to all stakeholders, particularly in the decision making processes of the organization. A brief profile of the seven Governing Board Members has been provided below:
Dr. Aqueel Khan, a development professional with a PhD. in Women Empowerment, is the founding member and Director of ASK. Aqueel has over 25 years of experience of working at national and international assignments in the fields of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), NGO management, and sectorial issues such as Gender & Development, Micro Credit and Micro Enterprise Development, and Participatory Irrigation Management, among others.
Fr. Mathew Kayani is currently the Director of Varanasi Medical Society, an NGO running a hospital and carrying out extension work in villages around Varanasi. Fr. Mathew, trained in Belgium and Canada, is an NGO leader, who besides leading VMS, has in the past provided leadership to a network of 15 NGOs in Northern India.
Mr. S. Bharat brings with him sound financial management background especially related to NGOs. He is currently a Freelance consultants on financial management.
Ms. Monica Ramesh, Master of Social Work, is the staff representative on the Governing board. Monica is a skilled trainer on CSR as well as development subjects.
Mr. Khilesh Chaturvedi, Master of Social Work, is a professional with over 25 years of social development experience from the grassroots to the international level. His expertise lies in facilitating the development of NGOs on managerial and programme aspects through trainings and evaluations.
Mr. Sant Kumar is a faculty member at Xavier Institute of Social Sciences, Ranchi. He has special expertise in participatory methodologies and has large grassroots experience.
Mr. Prabhakar Rawat is a committed professional who gave up a lucrative carrier in a multi-national bank and is currently the program head of an innovative NGO working on issues of financial inclusion.
