The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has led to a dramatic loss of human life and also has affected many of us, likewise, has affected the poor and the marginalized sections of our society adversely. The economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is devastating, and that led to an economic crisis, resulting in the loss of livelihoods of daily wage workers and migrant laborers.

ASK India, on its part, has constantly engaged with the project team and the community through its local partners (ARPAN) in raising awareness on the safety measures to be adopted to prevent infection, encourages community leaders to take lead in spreading awareness at the village level and promote social distancing, etc.,

ASK India, in partnership with L’OREAL, along with our partner REAL and Arpan extended their support in the form of distributing dry ration and sanitary kits to needy families belonging to Siruvai Village, Tamil Nadu as part of the COVID-19 Relief support.

Rajasthan has also borne the brunt of the pandemic with several districts on red alert over the past three months. Though the Government of Rajasthan has also pressed into service its entire machinery towards prevention and control, despite its concerted efforts, the state has witnessed a surge in the number of cases that have started appearing in almost all the districts. Relief measures such as direct cash transfer, enhanced rations, providing shelter, and food to migrant laborers implemented to protect the poor and the vulnerable households have eased the situation. However, the subsequent lockdown has made the common man’s life more miserable.

With the support of ASK India and in partnership with L’OREAL, and Arpan extended its support in the form of distributing Dry ration and sanitary kits to needy families belonging to Dhakari Village as part of the “COVID-19 Relief support.

190 families in Dhakri village were supported with Dry ration and sanitation kit. Out of 190 families, 154 families are farm workers and 36 families are marginalized farmers.
